A few helpful things to know before heading to Italy:

Passport & Entry Requirements

Make sure your passport is up to date! It must be valid for at least 3 months after your planned return date.

Power Adapters

Italy uses Type C, F, and L outlets with 220V power. You’ll need a European power adapter to charge your devices. If your hair tools or electronics aren’t dual voltage, a voltage converter would be needed.

Currency & Payment

Italy uses the euro (€). Credit and debit cards are accepted in most places, especially in larger towns and tourist areas. That said, it’s always a good idea to carry some cash for small shops, cafés, or taxi rides. You can exchange money before your trip or withdraw euros from ATMs once you arrive.

Phone Use & Wi-Fi

Most major U.S. phone carriers offer international plans, definitely check with yours before the trip to see if you’re covered. If not, most restaurants and hotels have WIFI that you can use for calls and messaging.

Taxis, Rideshares, and Transportation

Uber and Lyft aren’t widely available in most parts of Italy, especially smaller towns like Malcesine. Traditional taxis are the most common option. For getting around town, walking is usually the best way to explore (Malcesine is super pedestrian-friendly). There are also ferries, buses, and rental cars depending on your plans.
